75th Anniversary of Battle of Antietam Friday, Sept. 17

Friday, Sept. 17, should be a great day in American history as it marks the seventy-fifth anniversary of the Battle of Antietam, an important engagement of the Civil War; also the one hundred and fiftieth anniversary of the adoption of the Constitution of the United States.

These two events are to be given their due recognition by Hugh C. Irish Camp, No. 8, Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War. The late Daniel S. Wanamaker, father of Mrs. Olla Van Horn, Seth Wanamaker, Elmore Wanamaker, and John Wanamaker of Newark, was one of the volunteers in the 13th Regiment Co. K, N. J. He was a corporal and took active part in the Battle of Antietam in which their beloved Captain Irish was killed within a month after the company was mustered into service.
