Scenes on the eve of celebration of the seventy-fifth anniversary of the Battle of Antietam today

Left - The Blue and the Gray meet again, this time as friends and the past is forgotten as Capt.
R. D. Parker, 91 (left), of Chicago, who fought with Union forces at Antietam as a member of the
New York volunteers shakes hands with J. D. Dickerson, 93, of Smithfield, Va., who faced the enemy with Gen. "Stonewall" Jackson. They met when both came to Hagerstown for the celebration.

Center -The 121st Engineers, District National Guard, roll into the battlefield to prepare for the sham battle.

Right - The camera follows the colors – Union and Confederate—as they are hauled together to the top of the observation tower overlooking Bloody Angle where 75 years ago the Confederate dead lay two and three deep and the Union's losses were correspondingly heavy.
